Letter from Heather A. Foor, Wife of Tim Foor
Dear Richard and Susan Lutz,
Thank you for raising funds for The Dream Foundation which fulfilled my husband Tim's dream to visit Washington D.C. before he died in 2005. I apologize for not writing sonner. I needed time to gain perspecive on Tim's happy experience.
When Samaritan Hospice asked Tim what dream he had, his first thought was visiting the Wolrd War II Memorial. He contributed to the Memorial Fund due to his great respect and gratitude to those who fought in the war. He was invited but was unable to attend the dedication ceremony in 2004 due to a medical procedure.
We went to the Memorial within hours of arriving in D.C. Tim rode around the memorial in an electric wheelchair reading every word on all plaques. He wanted to stay as long as possible.
We enjoyed a beautiful summer sunset over the Lincoln Memorial from where we sat at the WWII Memorial.
Tim selected this card to send as a Thank You note to you. He felt the picture captured his happiness of his visit. He was deeply touched that The Dream Foundation thought him worthy of the effort and money. He did not accept how priceless that he was.
There is no doubt that Tim maintained his strength for the trip. Upon our return, he grew very tired and passed away two weeks later on July 4th, an appropriate date given his patriotism.
For me, the trip provided an opportunity to be a normal couple. Previously, we enjoyed adventures in new cities to experience all the sites, sounds and restuarants. Our time in D.C. reminded me of our courtship.
Thank you again for your fundraising efforts. You touch many lives as you make the terminally ill feel fulfilled and create happy memories for their families to cherish forever.
Gratefully,
Heather A. Foor
